Last Couple of Weeks

I always seem stumped to figure out a way to start these blog entries. But once I get going I end up talking about more things than I thought I would. My original goal when starting this blog was to update it at least once a week. But the last couple weeks have been busy for us and they’ve gone super fast. Hopefully this won’t be too long but I want to catch up on the last couple weeks.

Jake is almost 100% back to feeling like his old self. He got to spend last week with Toby (my mom's Shih Tzu). That always cheers him up. They were so tired from playing for a week but they had fun. Because of his bladder stone he has to be on a special diet. But I don't think he's even noticed. He loves his new food and after his finishes the last of his treats he's going to switch to some new ones. But I am pretty sure he'd eat any “cookie” you gave him.

I forgot to mention in my last post that when I asked the doctor about the size of the baby and he said that the baby was measuring slightly small for my due date but he wasn’t concerned. He said it was totally normal and not to worry. Just told us the usual, see you in 2 weeks. So we went back yesterday, for another standard appointment. The baby was so active yesterday. It still makes me smile every time it gets going. It’s hard sometimes to tell the difference between kicks and punches or hands and feet but it’s always fun to guess. The baby has been very active lately and I’m so glad. It always is very comforting to feel the movements. So, anyway, I’d only gained one pound in the last two weeks and the baby’s heartbeat was great again. I’d swear that it was so much stronger/louder than just two weeks ago. I’m sure that’s a very good thing. I asked the doctor about the baby’s size this week. She said (the office has 4 doctors and you rotate which one you see every time you go) that the baby was measuring big this time. At the appointment yesterday I was 34 weeks and 1 day pregnant but the baby’s size was measuring 35 weeks :) I was soo happy. I don’t want my sugar pie to be small. I definitely want he/she to be healthy. And the fat rolls are always cute on babies. We go back in two weeks for another appointment. But, at this visit we’ll have to start checking for dilation and do a swab to make sure there’s no bacteria present. Those are never fun but you don’t have a choice. After that appointment we go back every week. That seems so crazy to me. This month has gone by so fast and we have so many things to do in November, so I’m sure it will go fast too. It seems so hard to believe that we have less than 6 weeks left, but it also feels like I’ve been pregnant forever. But I’m enjoying my pregnancy and so grateful that I’ve had a very great pregnancy. Let’s just pray that the delivery goes just as smooth and easy :)

We started our child birth class on the 19th. It’s interesting. LOL. I was dead set on getting an epidural before we started taking this class. But now I’d like to try to see if I can do without it. There are some pain meds they can give you that are like just local pain shots….similar to a Novocain shot from the dentist when you get a cavity filled. It will only numb a certain area instead of from your waist to your knees. I don’t have the world’s highest pain tolerance so it might be interesting, but I’m trying to learn and practice the breathing techniques to go as long as possible without an epidural. They say to have a birth plan but not get your heart set on it. I'm going against my nature and I'm just going to go with the flow of things for the delivery. I'm sure everything will turn out fine tho.

Keith and I joined this wonderful church at the beginning of the year. We love the church, the pastor, the members, and everything about it. Anyway, I'm bringing this up because I volunteered for the month of October to help with the Sunday preschool class. *I love that age!* They are so fun, honest, and full of life. Well, there is one little guy in the class that is a handful. It makes me so sad to see the other members of the church just write him off as a bad apple and not give him a chance. Well, needless to say, he's definitely caught my attention. I love a challenge and I just for some reason seem to connect with those type of young children. I just feel like in my heart I can help him, I can make a difference. Well the first class didn't go to great. It was a little rough. But I'm not a quitter so I went back the next Sunday with my head held high. That Sunday went much better. This little guy, he really warmed up to me. And he was so much better that day, which in turn made the others behave better also. It's so amazing how one child acting up can cause the whole class to misbehave. They definitely feed off of each other. I'm going to keep going back even though October is over. I have to admit but this guy really pulled at my heartstrings. I know I'm going to have to take a break when it gets time for the baby to be here and for a while afterward. But I'm going to continue going and try to help him. I just can't stop thinking about him. I know he's a good kid, I'm afraid he might have mild problems. But, that doesn't mean anyone should just write that child off. I've got a good feeling about helping him :)

Well, that pretty much sums up our last couple of weeks. The next few weeks are even crazier but we will manage. We always do.

God Bless,

Jess

Jake's Birthday Toy & Baby Appointment

So we came home from work yesterday and I was right. Jake definitely loved his new toy!! Probably a little too much. He tore open the stuffed pig's belly and took all the stuffing out. The stuffing was spread all over the dining room. It was everywhere!! He likes to get the squeaker out! Well he found them both inside this poor piggy. LOL.

I don't think the poor pig can be repaired...

We had another baby doctor appointment today. It went great. The baby was moving soo much and kicking me in the ribs all day :) When we listened to the heartbeat with the Doppler there was a ton of background noise and the nurse asked if the baby was active today. Hehe. Oh yea! We go back in two weeks for another standard appointment and then it's time to start going every week!! It makes me so giddy to start going every week. Because then I know that the baby is super close to being born :) I can't wait to hold my precious little one. And, of course find out the sex finally!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

Please pray for my Jakey boy. We have to take him to the vet tomorrow and won't pick him up until Friday :( I'm gonna miss him like crazy but hopefully this surgery will help him feel better.

Almost 32 weeks :)

Sorry it’s been a while since we’ve updated. I just feel like there’s nothing interesting going on. This is probably a good thing, because that means no bad things going on either. Keith and I had a very productive weekend. I spent all day Saturday cleaning and he did some outside work. Then he helped me finish cleaning the house on Sunday by vacuuming for me! He’s so amazing. The only thing I have left to catch up on is laundry. I dread laundry. I’ve been avoiding it for a while. It’s all washed, I just hate folding/hanging it. But it must be done. So my plan is to tackle that this next couple of days. After finishing up the cleaning yesterday, Keith took me out to dinner. There’s a new Mexican restaurant in Columbus that we’ve been wanting to try. It was soooooo good. Although I love most Mexican restaurants, this one could be our new favorite. But, I learned that I can no longer sit in a booth comfortably. I could hardly eat because I couldn’t get comfortable. Maybe I shouldn’t blame that on the booth though, it’s been happening a lot lately.

My Jake turned 2 years old yesterday! It seems like he’s been in our house forever. And you know I just had to go out and get him a new toy to celebrate :) I bought him flavored bone. One of those big ones that had the two big knuckle ends on it…he’s never had one before. Needless to say, I didn’t see him for hours after I gave it to him! And then this morning he got a new stuffed animal that has 2 squeakers in it. He loved that too, he wouldn’t give it up long enough to even play fetch. But on this coming Thursday (the 15th) my baby has to go have surgery. He has a ½” stone in his bladder. We have to drop him off at the vet on Wednesday after work and can’t pick him up until Friday. It makes me so sad that he’s going to have to be there that long. He’ll be so scared and lonely :( So this weekend we’re just going to take it easy and hope he heels well. Hopefully he can forgive me for leaving him at the vet so long.

We have a baby appointment tomorrow. It should be a relatively routine appointment. I don't have too big of a questions list this time but I'm excited to hear the heartbeat. I sometimes don't feel like I'm getting much bigger but then I'll notice a new stretch mark (or two) on my belly and the scale at the doctor's office just keeps going up. Plus, the baby's movements are getting stronger and stronger. It is still such an amazing feeling every time the little one moves or kicks. I'm so grateful that our baby is healthy and strong. It's so weird to think that in 8 weeks (or hopefully less) we will have a brand new addition to our happy family. I can't wait. I just want the baby to wait until at least the baby shower (Nov 14) so that we can get everything ready for his/her arrival. Then the baby can come whenever it's ready. LOL. We start our child birth class next Monday. I'm very excited but a little nervous too. I hope Keith enjoys it. We'll definitely let you know how it goes.

Here is a picture of the amazing curtains that my beautiful aunt made for the baby's room

A closer view

This is a really close view :) They have multi-colored dragonflies all over. So adorable.

And, she made chair cushions to match :)
So comfy!

Until next time,

Jess
